It is time to say goodbye...

It is time to say goodbye...

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to write this message, Circla is closing down. Over the last year I have been going through an incredibly difficult personal situation, one which I have had very little control over. I naively never thought it would ever come to impact Circla and particularly the future of Circla, but unfortunately I now have to accept that it has. This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, as Circla has well and truly been my life for the last two years.

I started Circla back in 2019 because I was in equal parts horrified by the packaging waste crisis as I was passionate about finding a solution.  Over the last two and a bit years I have put my heart and soul into doing everything I can do to make it a success. It has been a wild roller coaster that has included everything from launching a returnable packaging pilot in Luton Airport, surviving the pandemic by pivoting to a consumer facing model that resulted in me delivering orders on my bicycle at 5am in the middle of winter, raising two investment rounds, moving out of my parents garage into our own warehouse, building a team with 7 incredible women, running a pop-up on Portobello Road, winning awards, appearing in national press, and finally hitting 200 refillable products on the website! But most importantly it has been about seeing people believe in our mission and building this incredible community of individuals all trying to do their bit to protect our planet. Nothing will ever beat the feeling of picking up my first bag of empties from a customer or the feeling of someone new placing an order with us. So for all of that, thank you.

I would never have been able to experience or achieve any of this without the incredible support of my parents, friends and to my amazing team: Romily, Kali, Rebekah, Hannah, Alice, Megan and Daisy. I will never be able to thank you enough, for your support, energy and unrelenting belief in Circla. We built something incredible together and I will forever be grateful to all of you.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Sustainable Ventures for believing in me when Circla was just an idea on paper and to SFC, Juan, Charlotte, Michael, Claire, Kien Tan and Julia for enabling Circla 2.0 post lockdown. Also a huge shout out to Louisa Clack for being the most formidable PR to Circla, Ben Arne for getting us to prototype of our bespoke reusable packaging, and all our incredible brands - in particular Evolve and Upcircle who believed in Circla from day 1.

Once again, I just wanted to thank you so much for all your support and love since I started. Whilst this chapter may be closing, my passion to transform the way we consume goods to a circular model is unwavering. I hope to find the opportunity to continue this work.

Thank you so much,

All my love,
